Danger of The Grace Gospel

Grace Gospel

The “Grace Gospel” teaches that we are saved by grace through faith in Yeshua (Jesus) which is true, but according to Ephesians 2:8-9. But during the process of “being saved” from eternal damnation, (because this is not an instant process as most preachers are teaching) you must be accountable to God for your behavior and actions on a daily basis.

Endtime False Teachers & Prophets

The source of this dangerous doctrine comes from endtime false teachers and false prophets prophesied by Yeshua in Mathew 24. I remember the teaching from my former Pastor, the late Bishop Eddie Long, “there’s nothing you can do to mess this up” referring to the story of the Prodigal son who returned home to his father after a life of riotous living. Implying that no matter how the son lived his life, he was still the father’s son and wouldn’t suffer any consequences for his actions.

What The Bible Says

The Bible teaches that we are either of our “Father” God or the “Devil”. Which implies that our lifestyle determine who our father is. (John 8:44) If you live a life according to the Word of God, then the world can clearly see who your father is. A lifestyle of practicing sin does exactly the same. Maybe this teaching by Eddie Long is the reason why Usher and T.I. who often came to our church, never changed their lifestyle? You think?

Salvation Not By Works

Don’t get me wrong salvation is not by works, because the “work” on the cross was done by Christ, therefore our salvation is through faith in this work. But remember faith without “works” is dead. Your works which are actively abstaining from a lifestyle of sin is an outward expression of your true faith in the work which was done on the cross of Calvary.

Whatever you struggle with, God will give you “grace” to get through it.

Conclusion

No matter what a lukewarm preacher teaches concerning the “Grace Gospel”, scripture makes it clear that we can’t rely on just grace or just faith to be saved.

Don’t deceive yourselves by only hearing what the Word says, but do it! For whoever hears the Word but doesn’t do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror, who looks at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

James 1:22-24 CJB

Notice the author begins this verse with “Don’t deceive yourselves?” Its because the author knew through divine insight the time was coming when lukewarm preaching was coming to pervert the gospel!

You can’t just hear preaching and go on like its all good with your grace gospel passport to heaven but you must “do” what the Bible says. Remember the same Jesus you have faith in is the same Judge who said He will judge every man not according to his faith, but his works. (1 Cor. 3:8; 2 Tim. 4:14; Rom. 2:6)

This is why the Gospel of Grace can’t be taken lightly.
