Daily Proverbs: Hands That Shed Innocent Blood
Today’s daily proverb comes at the wake of the not guilty verdict of George Zimmerman the “wanna be cop” who admittedly shot and killed a young black Trayvon Martin as he walked from the store to buy a pack of not cigarettes but Skittles. I was moved as I watched the judge grin with pleasure, as she heard the verdict read and told Zimmerman, “the court has no further business with you”. This was a sure sign that he was “justified” in murdering a young boy simply because he looked “suspicious” while carrying “candy” not a gun.
What the judge and the jury doesn’t realize, God is going to deliver the final verdict! The testimony of Trayvon’s blood has reached the Throne Room! That’s all that’s needed for God to respond. Below is the Proverb that expresses how God feels when innocent people are killed:
These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
- A proud look,
- A lying tongue,
- Hands that shed innocent blood,
- A heart that devises wicked plans,
- Feet that are swift in running to evil,
- A false witness who speaks lies,
- And one who sows discord among brethren.
While I pray for the family of Trayvon Martin to be at peace during this season of their life, we all have to keep in mind that God is going to judge not ten years from now, but starting next year as NASA reports four bloody moons starting April 15th 2014. No it’s not Judgement Day, only the beginning of many judgments coming before the Second Coming of Christ!
Today’s scripture is not from Proverbs because the Lord redirected my path. I have noticed that people who love their life of sin are always supporting preachers who do not preach against sin. My former Pastor Bishop Eddie Long was one of those preachers who had many celebrities who came to church but to this day have not displayed any example of attempting to live Christ centered lives.
It was never a surprise to see Usher seated in the VIP section during our Sunday service and when I look at why Usher has succeeded and witness evidence of his “selling of his soul” for fame and fortune, it is troubling.
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;” 2 Tim. 4:3 NKJV
Even more, professing Christians are no longer taking heed to sound doctrine instead giving ear to the “encouragement gospel” which never requires a change of life in order to experience the blessings of the Kingdom of God. I want to encourage you to continue to take heed to the gospel that requires change and the renewing of your mind and then you will see your life spring forward. God says in Isaiah:
“If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land;” Isaiah 1:19
No you may not have it down to a science yet but striving to obey God is all He requires. He will do the rest! Be blessed! Let’s pray:
“Father in Heaven I thank you for the power of The Holy Spirit helping me to be willing and obedient that I may eat the good of the land. In Jesus name, Amen”
